What do you want?

We went for an hour long run this morning. We stopped at the park and I ran around with other dogs for 20 minutes. I'm finally home and I'm trying to rest. Why do you have that camera in my face? Leave me alone. I know I'm cute.

Perfect Song 12

I went to the WLUW record fair a week ago and found myself spending the most time at the Touch & Go table. I interned there for a few months four years ago. I like everyone at that label (as well as most the bands).
I bought two LP's from them that day - the one that matters right now is Blonde Redhead's Melody of Certain Damaged Lemons

the band is as artsy as you can get, but this song is beautiful. This Youtube video is someone's tribute to the movie Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, which is a good movie, but weird to make a tribute for. The song doesn't necessarily fit, but it doesn't distract from the intent either... I guess. just listen to the song and buy the album, it's worth it.

International Stinger

The Improv Team I've been coaching for 4 years at the Playground here in Chicago
got our picture taken for the Playground's 10 year anniversary next month.

I think it looks pretty good.

Perfect Song 11

I'm sorry I can't find a good studio version of this song.
It's not a song from an album, but a B side to a single from 2002.
This is one of my most favorite songs.

Interpol - Specialist

sleeeepy

Spring is sort of here - and with that I feel like I'm stacking up projects once again. Every few months I find myself being a part of 5 or 6 or 12 projects and it isn't until I realize all my free time is spent sleeping - that I'm doing too much.
I am currently working on 5 soon to be 6 projects. I always say I want to limit myself to three... then I get interested in other things.

Maybe I just need more sleep.

Listen to that riff...

This has been with me for over five years, but I thought I would make it public now.
Sure, I know this happens all the time - but I think this is the most obvious and blatant rip off of a guitar riff / song ever.

Original) the Kinks - Picture Book

This is from their album The Kinks Are The Village Green Preservation Society from the year 1968. One of my favorite complete albums in my collection. Sorry about the stupid video, but it's the best thing I could find on youtube.

Rip Off) Green Day - Warning

From their album with the same name, Warning - released in the year 2000.
The riff rip off cannot be obvious to just me...

obsessionsssss

So first, let's talk about Portland Oregon.
I just spent five beautiful days in this city and had a wonderful time.
Stacey lived there for a while, so she showed me all around the town. It seemed huge. I later realized that was because she was driving me around in circles, but still. It's a good sized city with some BEAUTIFUL scenery. That much is true.
Since I've lived in Chicago for almost 10 years now (yikes) I know most of the people in the improv community - so a lot of Stacey's friends in the city were already my friends or acquantences who then became 'our friends'. This weekend in Portland I got to meet some of Stacey's closest friends and they couldn't be better people. Of the three couples we hung out with the most, only 1 was an improv couple. CRAZY.
Both of us missed our little mutt, but Portland was LOVELY. I kinda want to move there now.

Second.
This Battles album (MIRRORED) is one of the most creative and fantastic things I've heard in a long time. It's mathrock from the future people. You're not ready for this!

Portland

I just spent 5 days in Portland Oregon.

I think I fell in love.

Lucky.

I'm just thinking about the 5 or 6 weeks it took Me and Stacey to finally agree on the dog we were gonna get. It took a few weeks to decide on the breed. Then Stacey started contacting breeders for Puggles (I wanted a Buggle - a Beagle/Bulldog mix, but they're harder to find and we could NEVER see what they looked like as adults) and a lot of the breeders are weirdos.
We took a week or so off - then I started going through some of the pictures from some of the breeders Stacey found. I eventually came across one of this guy. He was curled up in a ball, sleeping in a flower pot. Stacey contacted the breeder (a very nice woman named Peg) and asked her to send some more pictures of this Puggle. She told us that she had nicknamed him 'beagleboy' because he looks like he has NO PUG in him at all.
I agree. I think a Boxer snuck into the bedroom when Arlo's Beagle-Mom was breeding...
She sent us a few more pictures and we were pretty much in love with him right away.

He's such a great mutt right now.
I couldn't be happier with him...

Perfect Song 10

This video is weird - and the fact that the sound isn't quite synced up to the video drives me a little nuts...

but I'm a new fan of the Mountain Goats (thanks, Lansdown) and I've listened to this song at least once every day for the past three months. It's simple and beautiful.
from the album the Sunset Tree the Mountain Goats give Perfect Song #10. The song is This Year

Avril

I suppose the season has changed/is changing. Arlo is growing up to be quite a well-behaved little gentleman around the house. He's still got some learning to do when it comes to guests coming over. He gets too excited and jumpy. It's understandable though, as it's not an everyday occurance.

Foolish

Arlo is laughing at you.
